COWARAMUP’S Jill Turton was named winner of the 2015 Colin Duggan Cowaramup Citizen of the Year award on Australia Day.
The Stocker Preston Cowaramup director and licensee was presented with her prize by form Lions’ club president and Stocker Preston Real Estate property consultant Mark Murray.
Mrs Turton told the crowd at Pioneer Park she was humbled and honoured to be nominated.
“I guess in everyone’s life there comes a time when they are able to make a contribution in a voluntary capacity and I’ve been so lucky to serve on some wonderful committees,” she said.
“I love working with other people all looking to grow and develop Cowaramup while fostering what we have here.”
The award recognises a person who is generous with their time in volunteering to serve the community.
Mrs Turton is currently secretary of the Cowaramup Hall and Reserves Committee, president of the Cowaramup Retailers Association and a member of the Arts Hub Margaret River.
