TAKE a bow Jim Triglone – the first Margaret River golfer to win an away event in the South West Country Veterans for many years. Gentleman Jim pulled off this success on a wet, windy day at Dunsborough Lakes with 40 stableford points, blitzing a near 140-strong field. Nearer home there were other big winners. Leading the way was Mark Bonnette, who took out the First National Scroungers, also with 40pts, one ahead of Mike Kelly. John Ritchie won a countback with Adrian Reilly and Richard Holt for third place, all carding 38. Mike Herbert hit top form to win the Leimac Building stableford with 39, and club captain Dave Glasson claimed the Moss Wood mixed event. Patsy Bedford was the top woman of the week. Her 40pts in the Eithne Lagan Shield was too good for Maggie Foy, who pipped Kim Robson on a countback after they finished one behind.
