THE Year 9 Hawks made the trip to Collie to take on the Eagles. Against a strong breeze in the first quarter, the Hawks started brilliantly and by quarter-time had kicked 6 goals to Collie’s 1. Kalani Brooks kicked 3 goals and proved a handful for the undermanned Collie side. With the wind at their backs, the Hawks were ruthless in the second quarter and piled on another 10 goals to Collie’s single. Brooks kicked another 6 for the quarter. He was given tremendous supply by the skillful Zac Dronow and pacey Ben Znidarsich playing a sweeping role across the centre. In the third quarter the Hawks kept their foot on the pedal with another 7-goal quarter, and the work ethic continued into the last. Jacob Graham kicked another 2 goals to finish with 4. Final score was Hawks 28-12-180 to Collie 3-0-18. Collie were gallant and never gave up. Special mention to Jesse Adams who was playing one of his best games but suffered a shoulder injury in the last quarter. Great to see the boys rally around him to sing the song afterwards.
