Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club president Peter Duncan has been remembered as an inspiring role model by his son James, after his sudden passing on Tuesday, aged 57.
James Duncan said his dad was someone everyone could really look up to.
“My dad was a real inspiration to people – he was always happy,” he said.
Peter grew up in Perth and in his youth played senior football.
He also won a national life saving gold medal.
“Dad loved being outdoors and took a real pleasure in seeing other people enjoying themselves,” James said.
Once moving to the South West, Peter spent a number of years coaching colts footballers for both Donnybrook and South Bunbury.
He then joined the Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club in 1998, spending a number of years as president.
“He was really committed to everything he did,” James said.
“Everyone is in shock and we are all going to miss him a lot.”
Peter is survived by his wife Denise and his children James, Matt and Claire.
