The Margaret River Cabernet Savages will head to Adelaide next week to take part in the Great Southern Slam, a biennial tournament of over 45 teams from across Australia and New Zealand.
Team spokesperson and inter-league representative Mandy Carey (aka Ranga Banga) said the event was the team’s second visit, with their first appearance in 2014.
“We’ve been training extra hard in the lead up, including all the coaching and scratch matches at Derby Fest here in Margaret River,” Ms Carey said.
"This is the largest roller derby tournament of its kind in the world, and we are all so excited to be playing once again.”
The Cabernet Savages will face the Diamond Valley and Blue Mountains roller derby leagues in a round robin style competition.
The team is raising funds for travel costs, with donations going into a draw to win a family pass to the team’s next home bout in August as well as a voucher from Goodfellas. For more information visit the Margaret River Roller Derby facebook page.
