A TOUGH weekend of polocrosse and a hard-fought final against Kojonup couldn’t stop the Margaret River polocrosse team running out winners at the State championships in Perth last weekend.
With coach Barry Butterly extending his wealth of knowledge and experience, our team put together some fantastic teamwork and was able to outplay all oppositions in the C-grade competition.
Barry has played for Australia with local polocrosse legend Paul Brennan, now of Jesters Flat Polocrosse, where anyone wishing to try their hand at a truly Australian sport has the chance to learn and have some fun. The win was a fabulous boost for Polocrosse in the South West and will hopefully entice homegrown young talent such as Emily Walsh and Justin Buchanan back to the region.
With only slight changes to the lineup, our team hope to continue their success in a fortnight at the Kojonup tournament.
Margaret River Polocrosse club is always open for new members, contact Marina Davis 9758 8889 or Darren Martin 9757 4087 for enquiries.
