Margaret River Hospitality Group executive chef Tony Howell has a busy three days ahead of him: 105 appointments with 300 ‘Aussie Specialist’ travel agents to showcase Western Australia using the State’s produce.
The inaugural Corroboree Asia event will be held in Perth Conference and Exhibition Centre from Monday 5th to Friday 9th September.
Corroboree Asia is an Australia-based travel trade event that combines a training workshop and familiarisation visits exclusively for qualified Aussie Specialist agents from Greater China and other key Asian markets including Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
These qualified agents are front-line retail agents who actively sell Australia as a preferred long-haul destination to Asian travellers.
Howell will be in the Tourism WA booth and have just five minutes to talk to a group of four travel agents at a time while plating up.
“I’ll be prepping a marron dish with garlic butter and truffle – prized local produce that the travel agents will barbeque themselves,” Howell said.
“I reckon the barbequed marron will whet their appetites to learn more about WA and the awesome food we have.”
“It’s a privilege to showcase such fine ingredients to those who will ultimately sell Western Australia as a destination, encouraging more Asian visitors to our State.”
