The Margaret River Gourmet Escape was last week awarded Best Tourism Event at the Australian Event Awards, an achievement that event director Hannah Pike said was satisfying after being nominated for four years running.
““We are extremely excited to have won Best Tourism Event 2016,” Ms Pike said.
“This is a fantastic achievement for the event, especially against strong contenders such as Byron Bay Bluesfest.
WA Premier and current Minister for Tourism Colin Barnett said the festival had a significant impact on tourism performance in the State.
Gourmet Escape has become a powerful brand in the culinary world, lifting Margaret River and WA's profile as a premium food and wine destination.

"In just a few short years, Margaret River Gourmet Escape has become a powerful brand in the culinary world, lifting Margaret River and WA's profile as a premium food and wine destination,” Mr Barnett said.
"This is really powerful when marketing the State to potential visitors to increase on the 400,000 food and wine enthusiasts who travel to WA each year.
“Margaret River Gourmet Escape is a key component of the State Government's Taste 2020 strategy to boost food and wine tourism.
As well as the Byron Bay Bluesfest, the festival fought off tough competition in the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival and Santos Tour Down Under events to claim the victory.
Ms Pike said the win, along with an announcement of a second limited release of tickets to popular festival events has given event agency IMG Culinary confidence in delivering another successful event.
“We are looking forward to having another great year in Margaret River this November and thank all our partners for their continued support of the event,” she said.
