A trio of comedians will arrive in town this week for the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars show at the Cultural Centre tomorrow night.
The show, featuring three of Australia’s best and brightest comedians – Kevin Kropinyeri, Matt Ford, and Dane Simpson – is travelling around rural and regional Western Australia delivering belly laughs from the oldest culture on earth.
With rave reviews around Australia, it was one of the three most voted shows in Country Arts WA’s 2016 Shows on the Go program, a community driven touring program offering regional communities to vote for shows they want to see tour to their town.
Kropinyeri is Australia’s premier Aboriginal comedy star, sharing tales about his childhood, marriage, and the particular, absurd challenges of life as an Aboriginal Australian family man.
Matt Ford is the latest in a squad of exciting young talents rapidly establishing themselves as the next generation of Australian standup, having worked alongside the likes of Doug Stanhope, Tom Gleeson and Tom Ballard.
Rounding out the trio is cheeky Dane Simpson, whose online sketch comedy skits such as “Chips and Devon” are making the new talent a social media favourite, garnering over 50,000 Facebook likes.
The Shows on the Go program is presented by Country Arts WA and Healthway to promote the Act-Belong-Commit community mental health message.
Healthway’s Acting Executive Director Maree De Lacey, said: “Healthway is delighted to support the tour for 2016; It is the perfect demonstration of the Act-Belong- Commit message, promoting positive mental health among individual people and whole communities throughout Western Australia.”
“We are very pleased to be working with Country Arts WA to present the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars, who coordinate the Shows on the Go regional tour that continues to enjoy enormous community support.”
The Aboriginal Comedy Allstars will appear at the Cultural Centre tomorrow, Thursday September 29 from 7.30pm. Tickets ($32 Adults, $25 Members, $25 concession) are available at www.artsmargaretriver.com or by calling the Box Office on 9758 7316.
