Following a two-day sellout of the upcoming Frack Off! concert in the Margaret River region this November, headline act John Butler has announced this morning a second show, with tickets released tomorrow, Friday September 30.
The announcement came as support for the anti-fracking movement in the South West continued to grow in light of Butler’s advocacy and punters rushed to snap up tickets to the event.
“The response to the Frack Off! concert has been really amazing,” Butler said.
“It sold out so quickly which shows how much the community is in support of stopping the expansion of the onshore gas industry in WA.”
The second concert will again be held at Three Oceans Winery just north of Margaret River and will feature the same line-up, including performances by the Pigram Brothers, Mama Kin and Ten Cent Shooters.
Guest speakers will also address the crowds on the controversial topic.
Dayne Pratzky, star of the documentary ‘Frackman’ will explain the impact of living on the frontline of the Queensland gas fields while local Gasfield Free Southwest spokesperson Lisa Chatwin will discuss the campaign specifically to the region.
Kath and Kim-star and comedian Peter Rowsthorn will be in town to MC the event, which aims to highlight the the onshore gas industry's current push to explore and drill in exploration leases around the State.
Margaret River local and passionate Lock The Gate campaign supporter Butler said the gas industry was moving into the region at a rapid pace and was targeting the Whicher Range, 30km from Margaret River.
"Think about it this way, who has the most to gain by telling you that the onshore gas industry is safe? The industry itself,” he said.
Once again ticket prices to the second concert have been kept down, with adult passes starting at just $20.
“The ticket price is really cheap because we want as many people as possible to come along and get informed about what the gas industry has planned for our region and our state,” Butler said.
Tickets to the second Frack Off! concert on Sunday November 27 will go on sale tomorrow, Friday September 30.
