Local families and visitors to the area have lots to look forward to this weekend with an action-packed schedule of entertainment and activities lined up at the 87th Margaret River and Districts Agricultural Show.
Kicking off this Friday October 14, the show promises a huge range of fun and community spirit when it lands at the showgrounds.
Entry to the show will be free for children under 16 years of age, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Ag Show president Kylie Kennaugh said big efforts had been made to keep costs down for families.
“A huge amount of work is put in and support received back through sponsorships and partnerships,” Ms Kennaugh said.
“Without that work and support a lot of the entertainment and activities on offer would be quite costly, so it’s fantastic that we are able to keep so much of the show affordable for everyone.”
“There will be a lot of things for everyone of all ages to enjoy on a budget
As well as the perennial favourites of any agricultural show – thrill rides, delicious food, animals and demonstrations – an animatronic dinosaur discovery trail and comedy dinosaur puppet show is lined up to keep the kids entertained as part of the Tyrannosaurus Park feature.
Friday night’s team Tug O War event looked set to get pulses racing with $1000 cash prize up for grabs for teams registered in the competition.
Fireworks displays, dancing and sports demonstrations and a range of horse events are also scheduled across the two-day event.
Ms Kennaugh said the Ag Show society still needed volunteers to assist with setting up displays and other help at the showgrounds.
“We would certainly appreciate help from anyone able to lend a hand in the hall, setting up displays and receiving entries as well as help with erecting tents and helping throughout the day,” she said.
Those wishing to volunteer are invited to attend the Ag Show office anytime between 9am and 4pm or call 9757 2323.
