A Perth teenager who allegedly pinned a police officer against a gate while trying to steal a vehicle has been charged with a string of offences.
The 17-year-old is accused of leading police on a high speed chase through Perth's southern suburbs on Sunday in a stolen Holden Astra.
Police will allege he pinned a police officer against a gate as he tried to reverse the stolen vehicle out of a Gosnells driveway, before leading police on a brief pursuit which had to be aborted.
He later abandoned the vehicle and was apprehended with the assistance of a police dog.
The injured police officer is believed to have suffered ligament and soft tissue damage to his legs.
The teen will front Perth Children's Court on Monday charged with act of omissions causing bodily harm, fail to stop after traffic accident, reckless driving, steal motor vehicle and no driver's licence.
Police have indicated further charges may be laid.
