Photography exhibition showcases decades of surf culture

Spending over two decades photographing surfing, the coast and local culture in the 100km stretch between the Capes, Sharpe delved into thousands of images to publish Waxed: A Guide to Surfing Hot Spots in South Western Australia and Surfing Margaret River: Cape to Cape Guide (with surfing partner Jason Reynolds). 

The latest guide, available at the Library and in selected local stores, recently went national and Sharpe said the Cocoon exhibition was her chance to show off the stunning landscapes of the region.

“We tend to almost take this area for granted – sometimes it’s nice to be reminded just how lucky and privileged we are to live in such a unique and inspiring place,” she said.

For just three weeks between December 1 and 20, Sharpe’s iconic surf images will be heavily discounted, some by up to 80 per cent.

“This is a great opportunity to buy a piece of Margaret River, and to hang it in you own house or perhaps gift to a relative for Christmas.”
