The sun was shining on the Year2/3 students of Margaret River Independent School this week as they enjoyed an outdoor lesson on local traditional culture from Wadandi custodian, Josh Whiteland.
Mr Whiteland, who owns and runs award winning tourism business Koomal Dreaming, took the kids through the school’s Nyindamurra Nature Trail to talk about the land, the seasons and the importance of native flora and fauna in the region.
A walk-through of some traditional Aboriginal tools and weapons, as well as fire building, music and dance followed, before Mr Whiteland led the group out on to the school oval for a bonus boomerang-throwing demonstration.
