CrossFit Margaret River hosted over 200 people at their box (or gym) in the LIA over the weekend, for participants in the Down South Summer Series crossfit event.
In a collaboration between the Margaret River gym, The Movement (Dunsborough) and Crossfit Bunbury, fitness fans and families joined in the fun, completing four WODs (workouts of the day).
CrossFit Margaret River’s Ben Robinson said the Margaret River leg was the second part of the summer series.
“Bunbury held the first one in November, ours was this weekend gone and Dunsborough will hold the next in April,” he said.
“Bunbury was an individual competition, where people entered solo.
The Margaret River event was a same-sex partner competition, so pairs of men and pairs of women competed.
“The Movement’s event in Dunsborough will be an opposite sex partner competition.”
Supporters and members of the community helped out on the day with scoring, judging and acting as ‘pit crew’ for the workout equipment.
Mr Robinson said the sport was an honest, authentic style of workout which doesn’t require much special equipment or skills to get started.
“We encourage anyone with an interest in keeping fit and healthy to contact us for a free trial to see what CrossFit is all about,” he said.
