Last week Margaret River Bowling Club hosted its biggest event of the year. The Margaret River Men's Classic was held on Wednesday and Thursday and attracted 112 players from many parts of Western Australia. Over 20 clubs were represented in what is a popular event on the bowling calendar.
In a closely contested competition, Felix Ditri from Pemberton, Daniel Wood from Hilton Park and John Eggleton and Kevin Porch both from Bridgetown were the winners.
The club gratefully relies on the talents, expertise and hard work of its members who volunteer to make this event such a huge success.
The winners of the Men's Trade Hire Pairs, held on Sunday February 5, were Toni King and Peter Coffey. Ray Arthur and Barry Rhodes secured the runners up position. This event was co sponsored by club member Lydon Hollitt.
The last Women's Pennant game for this season was played in Dunsborough. Augusta Gold and Margaret River's two teams, Green and Gold were all in a position to gain first and second place on the ladder thus securing a place in the final.
In an exciting finish Margaret River Green defeated Augusta Gold and so moved into second place ahead of Margaret River Gold who drew their game with Dunsborough. The final will be played this week in Augusta between Augusta Gold and Margaret River Green.
