The success of educators from Margaret River Senior High School continues to spread around the world with the recent visit by MRSHS international relationship coordinator Angela McCoy to Indonesian sister school Santa Laurensia High School over the summer holidays.
Ms McCoy met parents and students from the school, who will be visit Margaret River next month as part of an exchange program. This year 20 students will visit, accompanied by two teaching staff.
Ms McCoy also travelled to Surabaya for eight days to visit the Yayasan Pendidikan Etika Dharma schools, where she shared teaching strategies.
Ms McCoy said spending her “down time” helping other teachers and schools was rewarding and worth the effort.
“Of course I get to spend some time in beautiful locations, with some very lovely people,” she said.
“I find they are so appreciative of programs and systems we can share, to help with the students’ education.
“We are very lucky here in Australia to have such strong education and there are some very good teachers overseas who deserve to have the information and programs we have.”
Teachers and principals who have visited MRSHS have been “very impressed” by the facilities and teaching methods at the school.
Ms McCoy said the exchange sister school program allowed students from Margaret River SHS to understand how schools operate overseas and welcome international students to their classes with care and pride.
