Over two days, Football Margaret River soccer club hosted 28 teams from around the state for their 23rd annual preseason carnival.
In the men’s final, Australind faced Floreat Athena and after a draw at full time, and extra time, the game went to a penalty shootout. Floreat Athena took the title and goalkeeper Franky was awarded fairest and best for his multiple saves over the weekend.
The local women’s team, the Mermaids, faced the Eaton Dardanup Royals with the Margaret River team falling 1-0 from a penalty during the game.
Fairest and best in the women’s competition was awarded to Dom Fedel from the Royals.
