A group of travellers dedicated to cleaning beaches around the world will hold a beach cleanup event at Gnarabup to coincide with Cleanup Australia Day on March 5.
The trio behind the Ocean Cleaner'zh group are a dedicated bunch of travellers who have made it their mission to do their bit in maintaining the areas in which they are vacationing.
“We have crossed Australia from East to West, on the way to Margaret River we have been to Esperance and Albany,” said Jordan Bili-Prodhomme, one third of the passionate environmentalists, joined by friends Aurelien and Clement.
“We are staying in Margaret River because we fell in love with the place – the climate, the people and the waves - and also because we have found work in vineyard,” he said.
While they continue their global travels, which will take them next to Indonesia and then on to South America, Mr Bili-Prodhomme said they would work to spread the message of ocean protection.
“Our project started on last September and we have been doing this around the coast since then, helping the local people to keep the beaches clear from trash.”
The group have delivered some impressive results, with casual clean ups resulting in huge hauls of rubbish being removed from various locations around the country.
“We would really like to get as many people as possible to come and help us out at Gnarabup Beach to help get the message out and continue our mission, before we head to Indonesia, then South America, for new challenges and to meet new people.”
The Gnarabup Beach Clean Up will kick off from 9.30am on Sunday March 5. The group will provide rubbish bags, participants are advised to wear casual clothing and gloves for safety and comfort.
