Labor’s Murray-Wellington candidate Robyn Clarke has said a Labor Government will invest $200,000 into revitalizing and continuing the development of Dwellingup and Pinjarra city centres, as well as $100,000 towards the purchase of a minibus for the Community Bus Service, pending a successful trial.
A McGowan Labor Government will allocate $200,000 towards the redevelopment of the Dwellingup and Pinjarra town centres, as part of a fresh approach towards community infrastructure in the region.
If the bus trial, which is currently in progress, proves unsuccessful, the money will be re-purposed to other Shire of Murray projects via consultation.
The announcements are part of WA Labor’s plan to support local jobs by funding long-ignored local projects.
“I kicked off this campaign by meeting with locals in North Pinjarra. I was shocked to hear about the lack of public transport in the area, as well as in Dwellingup, North Dandalup and Coolup,” Ms Clarke said.
“With the Barnett Liberal Government missing in action, the Shire of Murray has stepped up to the plate with its Community Bus Service.”
Ms Clarke said she was also aware of the need for public amenities throughout the region from community consultation.
“I’m putting my money where my mouth is and committing to the construction of a nature play area in Ravenswood,” she said.

State Labor leader Mark McGowan once again pledged to oppose the selling of Western Power, as planned by the Liberal State Government.
“Our plan will ensure that, each year, at least 50 young Western Australians will be able to undertake their apprenticeships at a publically-owned Western Power,” he said.
“Particularly in regional WA, there's a strong sense that opportunities for quality training just aren't available.
“We need to give young Western Australians the chance to get a decent job and a good start to their working life.”
