National Party candidate for Warren-Blackwood, Terry Redman was in Margaret River last week, along with a group of Young Nationals keen to check out the South West in their red dust-covered Nationals bus.
Mr Redman said the “tour group” included members from the Eastern States, keen to get an understanding of WA country politics. “It’s fantastic to have these guys with me, we’re door knocking around Margaret River and meeting people, finding out what’s on their minds and generally introducing myself,” Mr Redman said.
WA’s current Minister for Regional Development said the area was a priority for him, and recognised the contrasts between the north coastal section of the electorate, in comparison to areas closer to his home base of Denmark.
“Certainly tourism, hospitality, business and things like technology and creativity are very important parts of life around Margaret River as well as the new perimeter road, and main street upgrades,” he said, nodding towards the enormous truck moving through the CBD.
