Visual artists keen to soak up the creative spirit of the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival have the chance to take part in the festival’s annual Visual Stories art competition, with entries now being accepted.
A prize pool worth $2000 is on offer as well as the chance to have works displayed in the Cultural Centre gallery throughout the festival.
Festival director Tanya Perdue said the competition was open to artists of all experience levels.
“This is a fabulous chance for both emerging and established artists to participate in this year’s Readers & Writers Festival,” she said.
“Entrants are asked to create an artwork that shows stories coming to life, or an interpretation on where, or how, stories come alive for them.”
Ms Perdue said she was eager to see the efforts of the region’s artists given the calibre of entries in years past.
“We are hoping to get a broad range of entries across many mediums and can’t wait to see what the community’s creatives have in store for us this year,” she said.
“People can enter for the chance to win, for the fun of being involved and for the chance to have their artworks on display while some of the country’s top writers are in town.”
Entries to the Visual Stories Art Competition & Exhibition are open until 21 April.
Works will be displayed from May 12 to June 4 and the winners will be announced at the Festival Launch event on Friday June 2.
An entry fee of $20 applies. The Entry Form and full conditions of entry can be downloaded at www.artsmargaretriver.com, www.mrrwfestival.com or collected in person from the Margaret River Cultural Centre.
