Margaret River Hawks Under 16s basketball team coach Tiffany Nielsen believes hard work and a never-ending supply of spirit was the key to the success of the club at last week’s Country Championship Basketball competition.

Her team of dedicated young players headed north to Perth to take on an impressive list of junior teams and Mrs Nielsen said the girls played exceptionally well against “some tough competition.”

“Our team pulled out all the stops and did such a good job to achieve a commendable third place,” Mrs Nielsen said.

The team joined the larger Margaret River Hawks junior playing group including the Under 13s and Under 15s teams at the championships, where the Under 13s won their grand final game against Collie.

“It is very promising for the the future of basketball in the region to see such strong and hard working players being rewarded for their efforts with great placings in these sorts of competitions,” Mrs Nielsen said.
