The Margaret River Montessori School has unveiled the latest feature in their developing wetlands project, made possible thanks to a South West Catchments Council grant and assistance from parent Paul Kelly.
Relying on guidance from the Cape to Cape Catchments Council, which hosts regular education sessions at the wetlands with a number of local schools, the Montessori School installed the bird hide to enable study to extend to birdlife.
“We are already covering the plant life and insects as well as the overall ecology of the wetlands area,” Principal Lisa Fenton said while touring the new facility.
The wetlands are directly linked to the Margaret River; students gain an understanding of the environment relating directly to their own backyards.

“The bird hide will allow us to expand science studies to native birds in the area, which makes this facility even more valuable to the community.
