Respected local GP obstetrician Cathryn (Cathy) Milligan was recognised at this year’s Rural Health West (RHW) Doctors’ Service Awards ceremony for her dedication and long term commitment to rural communities.
Dr Milligan has spent over 20 years supporting regional areas with health services and development and RHW chief executive Tim Shackleton said it was a privilege to honour her work.
“Having continuity of care and building a relationship with your doctor is so important to people in rural communities,” Mr Shackleton said.
“Dr Milligan has dedicated her career to supporting rural communities and mentoring doctors interested in pursuing careers in rural medicine,” he said.
“She should be proud of the contribution she has made to the wellbeing of people living in the Margaret River region.”
In 2015 Dr Milligan was named GP Supervisor of the Year from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in recognition of her work in supervising, training and mentoring doctors.
