It is a certain kind of star who can take home a Gold Logie, then casually dismiss the career opportunities that such a win can bring - Samuel Johnson's that guy.
The 39-year-old, who famously retired from acting last February in order to join his sister Connie's fundraising efforts for cancer research, isn't reconsidering his decision following his shock win for Molly.
"I made a promise to our village that I would work with them full-time until we hit $10 million for cancer research and I intend to honour that, Gold Logie or not," he said, shunning a showbiz return.
"I can't do it, mate, I promised 'em. We're on $4.05 million and we've taken seven years to get there, I'm not stopping now."
Johnson - who skipped the official after-party to instead celebrate with his family in Preston ("I've never seen my family more jubilant. I've never seen my sister so joy-filled and excited. It was a big night for our family," he said) - stunned the gallery of celebrities at the Crown on Sunday evening by claiming the top prize.
His speech, which saw him fighting back tears as he discussed the role the arts had in shaping his "outlier" early years, was tossed aside like his cue cards, with Molly Meldrum taking over the microphone and crowning him with a gold-painted Stetson.
"I'm looking at it right now," he said about the hat. "Molly made it himself and, you know, normally Molly gets people to do things, so it means an incredible amount to me."
The actor was ironically against the whole Logie campaign, infamously blasting his own sisters on Facebook last year for cooking up the plan, fearing it would derail their fundraising efforts for charity Love Your Sister.
At the time, he chided the Logies dream as "nonsense", citing the "PR machines" their little campaign would be up against.
"We flew in under the carpet," he said with a laugh, attributing the win to Love Your Sister's "400,000-strong gang of ratbags, who desperately wanted their snotty little brother to get up there and take it out."
"It was always an all or nothing deal," he said, explaining his early reticence behind the campaign. "If we won, it was going to be worth it, but if we lost it would've been a few wasted actions.
"Right when my sisters launched the campaign for me for Gold, the Big Heart Project was taking off. I didn't want to detract from that. But I'm going to have to eat my words.
"This has been far more beneficial for the charity. My sisters are right and they're not gonna let me forget about it in a hurry."
He says the response to Love Sister has been "massive" following the win, noting the charity's website has crashed twice since last night.
"You've had a good night if the website goes down," he said with a laugh. "We've had 11,000 transactions, and I've got the best amount of work ahead of me.
"It's been more than a shot in the arm for the fight to cure cancer. The numbers aren't in yet but they're huge.
"I promised Connie that I'd try and do everything I could to help her, and I didn't want to let her down - and it looks like we're on our way."
Johnson said his immediate post-win focus was on publishing the second edition of his "rad quarterly" zine The Stick, featuring contributions from the likes of Tim Minchin, Andrew Denton, Carrie Bickmore, Chrissie Swan, Shaun Tan and Shaun Micallef.
"We're Australia's first no bullshit, spin-free mag for people who give a f---," he explained.
"We devote our entire cover price to cancer research, at the same time as shoving it up the tabloid tyrants who've sowed seeds of fear and division ever since I can remember.
"So yeah, I'll be doing that," he added with a laugh, noting the unconventional answer for a Gold Logie winner.
Unconventional perhaps, but it beats another TV biopic, surely.
