MANDURAH: The City of Mandurah will finally put surfer Ben Gerring’s legacy on show this Friday, with the official opening of the new Beach Emergency Number (BEN) signage system at Gearies Beach, Falcon.
Mr Gerring tragically lost his life in May 2016 after being mauled by a great white shark off the popular surfing spot. It was the first fatal shark attack off the Mandurah coast. Read more.
COLLIE: Daisy the Toy Poodle is just seven months old, but already she is facing the biggest fight of her life.
The much loved family pet was this week diagnosed with the potentially deadly parvovirus infection, commonly known as parvo.
Daisy is one of a dozen dogs to be infected with parvo in Collie in the past fortnight, with three dogs already losing their lives to the infection, two of which were puppies who were too young to be vaccinated. Read more.
BUNBURY: A Bunbury man who pleaded guilty to a string of drugs and weapons charges will face District Court later this year for sentencing.
Robert Jeffery Johns appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court via video on Thursday.
He entered guilty pleas to 20 charges stemming from offences in June and July last year. Read more.
NORTHAM: A Northam house on Chidlow Street West has burned to the ground on Thursday morning.

COLLIE: The Greens have called on both the Federal and State governments to immediately start consulting with the Collie community to prepare for the retirement of a Collie coal fired power station.
The move comes after the recommendations of the Senate inquiry to phase out coal in the state based electricity review to remove 380 megawatts of power from the grid. Read more.
ESPERANCE: An Esperance resident has expressed concern and warned other about a traffic infringement scam, that he was recently targeted by.
Diesel Crawford said the scam landed in his inbox on Thursday, April 27.
The scam stated that he had been issued with a traffic infringement on Friday, April 7 to the value of $103.95. Read more.
