Thanks to a groundswell of support from fish and chips fans near and far, Dave Marshall and Linda Harris are celebrating a huge move up the rankings in the Australian Fish and Chips Awards 2017.
The store now sits in third position with 343 votes behind Busselton’s Bayside Fish and Chips (389) and Albany store Ocean and Paddock (460).
The competition aims to recognise the country’s best seafood using sustainably-managed produce by gathering votes from customers around Australia who award points to stores based on quality, taste, service, labelling and information available on the seafood sold.
The couple from Augusta were recently nominated out of the blue and found themselves in seventh position before they began campaigning in earnest.
“We found we had so many customers keen to share their support by voting online, and especially with town being so busy over the school holidays it was a great chance to put Augusta’s seafood even higher up the list,” Ms Harris said.
It would be incredible to see Augusta recognised for the top quality seafood we have here in the South West.

The duo moved to Augusta after operating fish and chip shops in Australind and Eaton, and celebrated their second year in town last month, where they employ a large group of local staff.
“Augusta is a fantastic place to live, the community is so great and welcoming,” Ms Harris said.
“We’ve had to work very hard to establish ourselves but we have been supported the whole way and we absolutely love it here.
“It would be incredible to see Augusta recognised for the top quality seafood we have here in the South West, and we would love people to get on board and vote for us through the website.”
“Our seafood is caught right here in Augusta, down at the marina, and brought to the shop where we prepare it and have it ready for you to eat within 24 to 48 hours,” Mr Marshall said.
“It doesn’t get any better than a piece of freshly caught Augusta bronzie, you can’t beat it.”
