Game of Thrones season 7: Everything we know so far

With just eight weeks until Game of Thrones is back on people's televisions, HBO is dropping delicious morsels left, right and centre.

Fans were driven wild when the first official photos from the highly-anticipated seventh season were unveiled last month. Now, HBO has dropped another cheeky snap that will have the television giant's marketing department rubbing its hands together.

The still shows Drogon - Daenyrys Targaryen's red dragon - wreaking havoc on the battlefield. But what has fans really talking isn't the battle scene itself, but the fact Dragon is much, much bigger than when we last saw him.

The internet, understandably, quickly descended into jokes about Drogon hitting the gym and the Mother of Dragons riding a 747.

So now that we know Daeny has the (literal) firepower to bust her way onto the Iron Throne, what other things can we expect from the highly-anticipated seventh season?

Last month's set pictures suggested an important meeting between The Mother of Dragons and a mystery character. Thanks to some pesky paparazzi, we can quite comfortably guess the rendezvous is between the last Targaryen and northern heartthrob Jon Snow (who may or may not be her nephew).

What's also certain is another awkward meeting between Thormund and the equally tall Brienne of Tarth. The possibility of these two characters shacking up has driven fans wild for some time (not to mention provided some much-needed comic relief amongst all the death, sex and more death that occurs in Westeros).

We also know that, despite the look of horror that crossed his face when Cersei was crowned queen, Jaime will stand by her side - at least initially.

Game of Thrones season seven debuts HBO on July 16. It is expected to run for just seven episodes, down from the usual 10.
