The Margaret River region has been recognised as the ‘Best Australian food and wine region' in Luxury Travel Magazine's annual Gold List Awards.
The region faced tough competition from areas such as the Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula to win the title.
Now in its 13th year, the annual list recognises the ultimate in luxury travel in Australia and around the world.
Thousands of magazine readers voted for the best luxury travel operators and destinations, and nominations this year came from a select group of specialist luxury travel agents who send their clients to discover the world’s most exciting and luxurious locations.
A destination of discovery each time you visit. Always a new restaurant to check out, a new cellar door is open or a new craft beer is being brewed.

The region's diversity was key to the win, with the Luxury Travel Magazine team, saying "a winning mix of exceptional wineries, delicious local produce and unbeatable surf puts Margaret River on top in this category."
Additionally, one of the panel of specialist luxury travel agents, Terri Cordin of Wildlife Safari, commented:
"A destination of discovery each time you visit. Always a new restaurant to check out, a new cellar door is open or a new craft beer is being brewed."
Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association CEO Pip Close was delighted the region had been recognised, and attributed the win to the exceptional experiences on offer.
“We are thrilled to see the region receive this latest accolade, which shows how Your Margaret River Region continues to impress the luxury end of the market with its thriving food and wine scene” said Ms Close.
“Events such as the Margaret River Gourmet Escape presented by Audi are instrumental in helping to position the region as a luxury food and wine destination, alongside products such as Walk into Luxury, which has previously received extensive coverage in Luxury Travel Magazine.”
