Warm sunny weather continued last week making for perfect golfing weather.

The veterans 9 hole stableford was won by Gerard McCabe with 20 points. Jon Beales, Jim Taylor and Alan Dale all scored 1 point less for second, third and fourth. The women played their annual Jubilee Foursomes kindly sponsored by the Scott Family. First prize went to proshop owner Mandy Farrell and long term employee Tania Easton with a score of 39. Wendy Campbell and Judy Anderson scored the runner up booth (36). Jo Pyatt came first in the 9 hole stableford.

The little guys were in charge on Thursday to award the Lilliput cup to overall winner Dave Burges with 40 points. Richard Holt scored two less for second and Mick Herbert went home with third. A lot of fun on the day – a shorter club, even a (little) car to be won for lucky players with a hole-in-one.

Richard Deshon won the Friday mixed with a fabulous score of 25, five points more than Gerard McCabe who came second. Third place went to Matt O’Farrell (19).

The Captain’s prize mixed stableford was played on Saturday, kindly sponsored by captain Ian Chidgey. James Sidders came out on top after a multiple count back from Clint McGregor and Ray Mann, all with 36 points.

Another sunny Sunday for the mixed stableford won by Viv Booker (38). Megan Booth was overall second and top female player with just one point less, Graeme Linfoot scored 36 for third.

Life Member Eithne Lagan paid a visit to the club on Sunday for a special occasion. Members young and old gathered around for afternoon tea with a great display of home made treats.

Eithne recently turned 90 years old and was very involved in the community in her younger days as a local doctor and passionate golfer.

Over the years she has assisted the Club financially by donating all the prizes for the annual Eithne Lagan Shield event. Eithne entertained the crowd with a great speech-, which can be seen on our Facebook page – and presented a generous donation to the Club.

The funds will be used to improve facilities for all members to enjoy and to ensure the future of the award winning course.
