A ladies clothes swap event will be held in Margaret River next week, aimed at reducing waste and recycling unworn apparel.
Local Gemma Daniels said she was inspired to hold the event after seeing the documentary ‘War on Waste’.
“It became clear how many women I knew personally had tons of items they just don’t wear anymore, and yet we still go out and buy brand new clothes off the rack every week,” she said.
The community event will allow residents to swap clothing and shoes, with each donated item earning tokens, which are then used to purchase ‘new’ items from the swap.
“I can’t think of a better way to reinvent your wardrobe for next to nothing, you could end up with a whole new season of outfits while making space for them in your own closet.
“It’s a great feeling coming home with a bunch of great new stuff which costs nothing but your unwanted clothes.”
Donated items should be in good condition, clean, stain-free and on hangers if applicable. Any items remaining after the event will be donated to the Red Cross Shop.
The Clothes Swap will be held on Saturday June 24 from 3pm to 5pm at the MR Community Resource Centre. For info call Gemma 0408 279 953.
