The annual Prostate Active Perth to Margaret River Cycle is aiming to surpass $1 million for its cause in 2017.
The event began six years ago to raise awareness and money to curb prostate cancer.
In 2017 there will be 175 cyclists embarking on the 300 kilometre journey on September 15 and 16.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Australia, with 20,000 new cases diagnosed nationally each year.
Prostate Active’s Jeremy Watkins is hoping there will be at least 200 riders registered by the end of June.
This team cycle event is open to cyclists of all ages and levels with riders working together to support each other all of the way from the start to the finish. The participants also train together leading up to the event.
Mr Watkins created the event to raise awareness of prostate cancer after his father in law was terminally diagnosed in 2011.
“The majority of the riders have been touched in some way by prostate cancer, and there are five riders who have completed this event for the past five years,” he said.
