The 2017 South West Mudfest was another success, with over 2000 competitors running through an obstacle course around Bootleg Brewery. Promising ‘Real Mud Guaranteed’ this year’s event did not disappoint, torrential rain leading up to the event ensuring everyone got down and dirty.
The usual 12km and 5km courses were joined by a one kilometre ‘Cubs’ course, added to cater for 6 to 11 year olds. With over 530 kids running this course, it was a fantastic way to start the school holidays.
A sausage sizzle was there to greet them at the end of their run, while the longer course runners enjoyed a Bootleg beer and burger after a hot shower.
This fun, family friendly event has gone from strength to strength over the years and thoughts have already gone into next year’s event to make it the best one yet.
The Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club was again in the thick of the action, responsible for building, manning and packing down the Mudfest course. The club would like to thank all the volunteers, businesses and sponsors for their input this year to make this event happen.
With the club now firmly looking towards the upcoming cricket season, the 2017/18 Annual General Meeting will be held at the Margaret River Hotel from 6pm on Tuesday July 18.
All past, present and new players and supporters are urged to attend to have some input in the future of your local cricket club.
