Fresh Start Recovery Program founder Dr George O’Neil needs more help to develop Locke Estate before the drug rehab can start operating its respite camp.

Fresh Start leased the campsite from the City of Busselton in March 2015, but were unable to come up with funds to develop the site after the government cut $1 million in funding.

To help Fresh Start get started, Rio Tinto donated four dongas which they could use for accommodation at the respite camp.

The dongas were transported from the Pilbra by Gold Star Transport who covered half of the $20,000 cost to ship the structures.

Gold Star Transport managing director Sean Carren said the company were only too happy to help because of the great work done by Dr O’Neil in the community.

“Everybody deserves another chance, and anything we can do to help Dr O’Neil give people another chance and get back on the right track, we were happy to do it,” he said.

“When the opportunity presents itself and we can help Dr O’Neil again we would be more than happy too. I wish more people in the community would give people another shot, because everybody is worth another go.”

Dr O’Neil said he had submitted a development application to the city to relocate a few trees on the property and needed help to complete plumbing at the site, a job which is likely to cost around $50,000.

Any businesses or people who can help Dr O’Neil to develop the site should feel free to drop into the Rio Tinto office in Busselton for more information.
