Western Australia's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.4 per cent in July in a slight improvement to the employment climate in the state.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics says trend employment in the state improved by 2.3 per cent over the past year, with WA adding 40,000 full time jobs since the start of the year.
The state's trend unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 percentage point in Julycompared with the months to June where it stood at 5.5 per cent.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics considers the monthly trend figures, as opposed to more volatile seasonally adjusted figures, to be the best indicator of underlying labour force market behaviour.
Nationally, the unemployment rate fell to 5.6 per cent in July from an adjusted June figure of 5.7 per cent.
The total number of people across Australia with jobs rose by 27,900 in July.
