The Margaret River Chocolate Company has again been the big winner at this year’s Perth Royal Show chocolate competition with innovative flavours catching the judges’ attention to collect a bag full of awards.
Turmeric latte, cardamom crunch, sour cherry and chia, beetroot & orange, chilli cashew with Sichuan pepper and a decadent smoked maple with bacon bits were just some of the chocolate creations that won gold in the competition.
The company won 17 gold medals and 10 silver medals in total, making it the stand-out performer at the annual chocolate show.
A new Canadian “s’mores” style chocolate bar, gingerbread spice and three new dark chocolate truffles – gin & tonic, dark ale and espresso martini - also won gold.
The judges were also impressed with a creative white chocolate Thai green curry truffle, an on-trend matcha green tea truffle and a native watteleseed ganache truffle, all of which won silver medals.
The Margaret River Chocolate Company also received gold medals for some of its existing favourites including peanut butter caramel, cookies & cream, Cointreau and old vine liqueur tokay.
Company spokesman Martin Black said The Margaret River Company had been a dominant player in the Royal Show competition for more than a decade its master chocolatiers always enjoyed the challenge of producing innovative new flavours.
He said the company was committed to being a boutique chocolate maker, where creativity, quality and customer experience were paramount.
“It is always very rewarding to see our innovative new flavours receiving accolades, as it confirms our belief that chocolate lovers are always prepared to explore new tastes” Mr Black said.
“Each year competitions like this give our chocolatiers an opportunity to display their skills and creativity as well as have some fun.”
