On Sunday evening the Margaret River Year 9-12 Boys and Girls hockey team attended the Busselton Hockey Association Fairest and Best Player countdown dinner and awards presentation at the Busselton Hockey Stadium.
The local contingent represented the Margaret River club proudly and collected a number of awards for their efforts on the field and within the club this year.
Donning their best outfits for the glamorous evening (earning man-of-the-hour Conor Callow the evening’s Best Dressed Award for his efforts), the players enjoyed a night of fun and commendation.
Margaret River goalkeeper Conor Callow was awarded the Association’s Fairest and Best Player on a countback from Cavaliers player, Louis Tunstill.
It is always fantastic to see a goalie win fairest and best. Asha Altmann polled very well in the girls Fairest and Best competition, finishing fifth overall.
The Association also awards a boy and a girl the Junior Sports person award for volunteering at a club and association level.
Clubs nominate players they feel are worthy of this award, then the board members vote on who should win the grand prize.
Asha Altmann was the recipient of the Girls award while Conor Callow won for the boys. Both are great role models for the junior players at the Margaret River Hockey Club and should be proud of their achievements.
