One of Hollywood's favourite pairs, singer Fergie and Transformers actor Josh Duhamel have announced they are splitting after eight years of marriage.
In a joint statement to People magazine overnight, the pair, who first met in 2004, confirmed they made the decision to split earlier this year, but kept the news quiet to give their family "the best opportunity to adjust".
"With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," the couple told People.
"To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family."
The couple married in an elaborate Malibu wedding in 2009 and have a four-year-old son, Axl. Duhamel told People in May that he and Fergie share "a lot of love for our son and have a good time together".
The latest news comes just a week after the Glamorous singer laughed off speculation she was she expecting another child with Duhamel.
"I've heard so many rumours about all of that. I have no idea what's in the future," Fergie told New York radio station, 103.5 KTU.
Speaking on The Ellen Show earlier this year Duhamel also said that he has "no idea what I'm doing half the time" when it comes to parenting.
"She's definitely more evolved than I am, and more patient," he said. "But I feel like I'm much more - you know, having a kid when I was 40 years old is much different than having one at 22, so I'm a little bit more mature than I was then."
And, in a similar reaction to that prompted by the news of Anna Faris and Chris Pratt splitting after eight years of marriage in August, fans on social media have not taken the news well, sharing their sadness in the most 2017 way: with memes, gifs and emojis (alongside messages of support).

Fergie is currently in the middle of a press tour for her first album in 11 years, Double Dutchess, to be released at the end of the month.
While Fergie, 42, and Duhamel, 44, have not be spotted in public in recent times, and do not appear to have been wearing their wedding rings, the couple posted happy snaps of their eighth wedding anniversary in January.
Duhamel posted a photo of the couple together to Instagram on July 19.
