Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down is back!
Well, to be fair, it never really went away, but since the Mail had a makeover last year we have had many of our readers asking ‘When will the Thumbs up column return?’
Starting this week, submissions will be printed in each edition of the Mail, so send your thankyous, bouquets and brickbats to nicky.lefebvre@fairfaxmedia.com.au or send us a message through Facebook for publication.
Got someone to thank? Had a nice meal at a local restaurant and want to give thanks? Perhaps something in your community has you riled up and you need to vent?
Your submissions can be printed anonymously upon request – but please remember we need your full name to accept the entries. Mark entries clearly if they should be anonymous or printed under a pseudonym.
Here are this week’s submissions...
THUMBS UP to the kebab shop dude for stepping up and being a gentleman. Your willingness to ensure the safety of the patrons is paramount. You are an integral part of our community.

I’d like to give a big THUMBS UP to the Augusta Margaret River Shire for making a stand and listening to their community with their stance on same sex marriage.

THUMBS DOWN to the businesses who close early for winter months but don’t promote this either on their websites, social media or even on the door of the premises.
If you’re going to close earlier than your posted hours, it would be wise not to annoy the local population by locking them out in the cold when they’ve gone to the trouble of checking online only to find the place locked up two hours before ‘closing time’.
