Three people are fighting for their lives after sustaining serious burns in a fiery car crash just outside of Albany in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police say a Ford Falcon sedan was travelling on Menang Drive near Chester Pass Road at around 1.30am, when the 23-year-old female driver appeared to lose control and crashed the car into a tree.
The car burst into flames, and the three occupants suffered life-threatening burn injuries.
The 23-year-old female driver and her two passengers - a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old male - were rushed to Albany Health Campus for immediate treatment.
They were later flown to Fiona Stanley Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
A RFDS spokeswoman said the patients were taken individually to Perth.
"The Royal Flying Doctor Service had three aircraft collect each patient individually - each with a RFDS Doctor and Flight Nurse attending to the patient in flight," she said.
"Each aircraft has a burns kit designed for in-flight use."
Menang Drive is currently closed in both directions between Copal Road, and Rocky Crossing Road, King River.
Drivers have been asked to proceed with caution and diversions are in place.
