DFES have urged people across South West WA to take care as thunderstorms are forecast for early Friday morning.
Damaging winds are expected in parts of the South West and Perth metro area according to an alert issued by DFES, with another cold front expected to move over the region during Friday.
Gusts of up to 100km/h are possible during Friday morning and could cause damage to homes.
The winds are expected to hit Cape Leeuwin in the early morning, extending to southwest of a line Perth to Bremer Bay by about 8am WST Friday and through the remainder of the warning area by early afternoon.
The warning advises residents:
- Store or weigh down loose objects around your home like outdoor furniture that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds, causing damage or injury
- Ensure your emergency kit is complete including a battery operated radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit
- Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area
- Move vehicles under cover
- Boat owners should securely moor their boats
- Campers should find safe shelter away from trees, powerlines, storm water drains and streams
- Unplug electrical appliances and avoid using landline telephone if there is lightning.
- If you are away from home contact family or friends to prepare your property
