A man who allegedly led police on a car chase through southern Perth suburbs before clipping two cars and crashing into a wall had a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia in the car, police say.
On Friday afternoon detectives saw a Honda Accord that had been reported stolen and tried to stop the car. WA Police allege the driver evaded police through Willagee, Palmyra, East Fremantle and Fremantle before crashing into a brick wall on Hampton Road and being arrested.
When officers searched the car they allegedly found the sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
The man, 47-years-old of no fixed address, was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital to be checked over after the crash.
He has been charged with numerous offences including assault with intent to prevent the arrest of a person, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, steal motor vehicle and drive recklessly, unlicensed possession of a firearm, breach of bail and possess firearm with circumstances of aggravation.
The man will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
