The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association board announced the new chief executive officer on Tuesday.

Clare Savage will start her role as chief on November 27, 2017.

Board chair Trent Bartlett said Steve Harrison who took on the caretaking responsibilities did a wonderful job.

“On behalf the board, I would like to publicly express our thanks to Steve for his loyalty, dedication and commitment,” he said.

Mr Bartlett said Ms Savage was a consultant to senior levels of the WA Tourism sector through her business Savagely Creative.

“Claire has over 25 years’ practical experience in tourism development in the UK and Australia, having worked in both the public and private sectors and has extensive knowledge of the WA tourism industry and strong relationships with its key stakeholders,” he said.

“Over the past 20 years Claire has undertaken projects in all of WA’s tourism regions and has a deep understanding and appreciation for the State’s history, heritage and natural beauty.

“Claire is clearly an accomplished and professional Tourism Executive, and an effective leader and strategist having also built solid relationships with the WA Tourism Industry at many levels.”
