It has been a good start to the summer season of sport for the Margaret River Tennis Club after being named the Most Outstanding Small Club for 2017.
The announcement was made on Friday October 6 at the WA Tennis Industry Awards Night.
The Most Outstanding Small Club Award recognises clubs with less than 13 courts that have an inviting culture, are accessible to the public, have implemented Tennis Australia programs and have increased competitive opportunities for players.
The Margaret River Tennis Club has been at its current location for 25 years, and over this time has seen its membership grow from 60 to over 200.
The club offers a range of pennant and social tennis options both day and night, ensuring that any person regardless of their age, ability or experience is welcome.
The Most Outstanding Small Club was one of 17 awards presented throughout the evening to a sellout crowd of 250 guests.
This year there was a record number of Award Nominations, with over 50 submissions across all 17 Award Categories.
Tennis West president Wayne Firns said the event was a great way to recognise the work that everyone from players, parents, members, coaches and umpires do to keep the sport thriving.
All winners of the WA Tennis Industry Awards Night were nominated for their respective categories at the Newcombe Medal Australian Tennis Awards on Monday 27 November.
