Members of the Prevelly Penguins – Margaret River's local year-round, all-weather ocean-swimming group – once again participated in the Tangaroa Blue Beach Cleanup last weekend.
The Penguins crew split into two groups to cover the north from the Margaret River mouth to Joey's Nose, north of Kilcarnup.
‘Emperor Penguin’ Jim McLachlan said the Penguins had participated every year since the inaugural cleanup some 16 years ago.
“The amount of litter is much less now, but still significant, including hundreds of pieces of small, broken bits of hard plastic washed up each year,” Mr McLachlan said.
The Penguins also spent time sorting litter collected as well as collating data to provide to Tangaroa Blue for their reports.
