Ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your hats – the first ever Margaret River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service calendar is here.
Hot off the presses and first revealed to the world at last weekend’s Margaret River Agricultural Show, the calendar features some of the dedicated locals who give up their time and in many cases risk their lives to protect the homes and residents of the region.
Twelve months of local firefighters and their so-called ‘dadbods’, (defined by Urban Dictionary as a male body type that is ‘softly round’) were unveiled and made available for sale at the brigade’s stand at the Show, where they were a popular item for locals wanting to show their support.
The brigade’s Wayne Doney said the calendar showed the real nature of the local volunteers.
“It really shows that we are all locals, we’re your neighbours, coaches, tradies, teachers, the guys and girls you work alongside,” he said.
“We hope people will get on board and support us, all proceeds will go back to the service and you get to have us on your wall all year!
“We sold over 40 copies at the Show and we’re hoping to continue our sales now that we have a great list of local stockists who have come on board to help us.”
Each month of the calendar is sponsored by a local business, with photography services donated by photographer and police officer Brian Kinson, also responsible for the Not All Heroes Wear Capes tribute.
“We were really grateful to Brian for donating his time and his talents to help us out, he captures amazing images of emergency service personnel in the South West and it was great to have him be a part of this project.”
