LOCAL emergency services got to demonstrate their lifesaving skills on Friday at the Margaret River Education Campus, for the annual Leavers seminar.
Margaret River Senior High School’s year 12s had met earlier with a crash survivor now confined to a wheelchair.
The following car crash demonstration showed other potential results of drink driving and gave St John Ambulance Service, Margaret River Fire and Rescue Service, and Margaret River police a chance to practice a rescue situation.
The three ‘casualties’, played by students Elke Uhd, Karla Gibbon and Riley Holley, were rescued with the aid of the jaws of life, the fireys pulling off the doors and roof of their car to get them out of the vehicle without further harm.
Sergeant Paul Daly narrated the events, explaining what was happening and why.
