Soupie honour

THE Margaret River Soup Kitchen received a certificate for being a finalist in the Prime Super Community Group of the Year Award at the 2012 Regional Achievement and Community Awards on Friday night.

The Soup Kitchen was selected from a strong field of nominees, and Dave Seegar, founder of the Soupie, attended the event with 420 guests from across the State.

A not-for-profit organisation, the Soupie provides meals for a small optional donation to those in need, prepared by volunteers.

Food is donated by businesses and locals.

The Soupie began 17 years ago, providing low cost, healthy vegetarian meals for up to 150 people, twice weekly, 52 weeks of the year.

IN RECOGNITION: Dave Seegar accepts the Soup Kitchen’s certificate from Lachlan Baird, chief executive officer of Prime Super.
