A RELAXED approach to wine culture is the idea behind the new Swings Taphouse and Kitchen opening in the old Wino's venue in Margaret River.
Margaret River winery Swings and Roundabouts is the business behind the new venture, and director Howard Cearns said its wine on tap will be one of the key features of the venue.
"The key driver is the promotion of wine on tap, which is not a new idea but it is new in Australia," Mr Cearns said.
The wine will be the same as any bottle of Swings and Roundabouts, but during the process it has been packaged in to 30 litre kegs, rather than bottles, Mr Cearns said.
"The quality is still excellent and consistent and fresh. The wine is treated and processed in the same ways."
Operations manager Paul Birch said the Taphouse would showcase Swings and Round abouts wines as well as an array of alternative local and international wines, beers and ciders.
Mr Cearns said the venue also featured what they were tentatively calling the Regional Room a downstairs function room dedicated to profiling Margaret River wines.
The venue is now open from 10am daily, providing brunch, lunch and dinner services and is at 85 Bussell Highway, Margaret River.
